Since its first edition in 1982, the Paxinos and Watson rat brain atlas has become the most trusted source of accurate coordinates and anatomical information in laboratories throughout the world. It has been cited over 60,000 times, making it the most cited publication in neuroscience. The seventh edition incorporates new findings on developmental gene expression shows the boundaries of neuromeres in the diencephalon and brainstem.

About the Author
Professor George Paxinos, AO (BA, MA, PhD, DSc) completed his BA at The University of California at Berkeley, his PhD at McGill University, and spent a postdoctoral year at Yale University. He is the author of almost 50 books on the structure of the brain of humans and experimental animals, including The Rat Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates, now in its 7th Edition, which is ranked by Thomson ISI as one of the 50 most cited items in the Web of Science. Dr. Paxinos paved the way for future neuroscience research by being the first to produce a three-dimensional (stereotaxic) framework for placement of electrodes and injections in the brain of experimental animals, which is now used as an international standard. He was a member of the first International Consortium for Brain Mapping, a UCLA based consortium that received the top ranking and was funded by the NIMH led Human Brain Project. Dr. Paxinos has been honored with more than nine distinguished awards throughout his years of research, including: The Warner Brown Memorial Prize (University of California at Berkeley, 1968), The Walter Burfitt Prize (1992), The Award for Excellence in Publishing in Medical Science (Assoc Amer Publishers, 1999), The Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research (2001), The Alexander von Humbolt Foundation Prize (Germany 2004), and more.

Charles Watson is a specialist in the area of brain and spinal cord mapping. He graduated in medicine from the University of Sydney in 1967 and was awarded a research doctorate (MD) by the University of New South Wales in 1974. He lectured in anatomy at the UNSW from 1970 to 1982, when he took up a career in public health in the Health Department of Western Australia, being appointed Chief Health Officer for WA in 1993.

He returned to university life in 1994, holding the position of Dean of Health Sciences at the University of Wollongong and Curtin University until 2006. Since then he has held research positions at Curtin and at Neuroscience Research Australia. Since 2006 he has published 11 books and over 40 journal articles.

Watson was made a member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2004. He earned a DSc (by thesis) from the University of Sydney in 2012.

In his spare time he swims in the ocean, and he is an enthusiastic but mediocre player of the baritone saxophone. His musical favourites are Frank Zappa, Brian Eno, and Beethoven.

Clearly, in our practice experience, big data requires both master data management (MDM) and data governance to be effective and sustainable. Through 2013-14, big data will repatriate itself into the MDM fabric as yet another source. Specifically, big data applications need to be MDM-aware and MDM must also be able to store preferences for each big data source. Moreover, big data analytics need to understand the master view of customers and products to be effective. Lastly, mining of big data to populate social MDM and to perform entity matching on big data stores will help provision a 360� view of such entities from public, subscription and enterprise big data feeds.

Big data needs to be governed according to its intended business strategies which in turn are reflected in the active data governance policies of an organization. Otherwise the economic and tactical risk is redoubled due to probable overinvestment combined with a lack of proper business strategy execution.

If your data governance program is designed the right way, you should be able to extend your data governance processes to incorporate both enterprise-managed and the greater world of big data. One of the take aways from Sunil's book is the realization that the size of the data doesn't matter as much as how you use it -- and therein we IT professionals must learn to embrace the new crop of technology solutions such as big data and the governance it mandates.

Must have for Data Governance Folks !!

I absolutely loved this book. The book is really structured around the principles that one needs to govern big data. Once author establishes the framework he gets into the best practices of each discipline in the framework. It does not talk about how to implement big data governance but I guess that should come if you have already data governance running. If you are in the data governance then this is a must read.

Pass - SPOILER ALERT!

SPOILER ALERT. Seriously, fair warning. I can’t write this review, giving it the rating I did, without an explanation. So if you don’t want to read a spoiler review….STOP NOW!

I’ve read this blurb over and over again, trying to remember what I was so drawn to when I chose to read this. It must have been the “hope” I was feeling when I read, “living under the same roof, Dante discovers he wants more, and if Cleo lets down her guard, she just might find what her heart’s wanted all along.”

From the VERY BEGINNING, we are thrust into the notion that Dante is an ass. He is very rude, uses woman (Cleo) included and has absolutely no problem with it. In fact, he’s very open about it. He even calls Cleo by the wrong name after their “first” sexual encounter. But I guess that wasn’t yucky enough for Cleo, because she kept going back for more.

Cleo hates her job, hates how she’s treated by her boss (aka Dante) but has no problem jumping into bed with him, repeatedly. Even after being called a different name, fighting with him about his manors and accusing him of being an arrogant ass, she continues to degrade herself by “sleeping with the enemy”, so to speak.

Read the blurb again. See that part where “Cleo’s world is unexpectedly turned upside down”? She gets pregnant. Yep, pregnant by a man she hates, but is attracted to. Oh wait, it just keeps coming. When she tells him that she’s pregnant, he fires her, gets her thrown out of the office and calls her names. But wait, I’m not done. Guess what? He somehow gets her to move into his home, all of a sudden caring about the baby he already signed off on (yes, a contract was signed where he gave up his rights as a father), and somewhere around the 70% mark of the book, starts asking “personal” questions about who she is, what she likes and tries to be a better man…for the baby. And she FALLS FOR THIS!!!!

Nope, just no…

Despite her boss being her brother’s best friend he is a complete jerk to her

Cleo has just started working for Dante and already hates her job. Despite her boss being her brother’s best friend he is a complete jerk to her. He is constantly talking down to her and treating her like she is inferior. But when he comes on to her during a business trip she finds herself giving in to his advances.

Dante is a pretty ruthless business man or man in general, her isn’t a hearts and flowers kind of guy. While reading Ruthless Proposition it was easy to hate Dante, if you could get past his dirty talking and the wild, hot sex. I am the eternal optimist when I reading and even I was wondering when Dante would come over from dark side.

Cleo and Dante return from their business trip and decide to end their affair. Neither have any deep feelings for each other and now that they are back in the office decide to keep things more professional. Despite their plan, weeks later Cleo and Dante find themselves forced back together.

I absolutely loved this story, for one big reason, the feels. This story absolutely pulled me in on every level. Yes, it’s hot and sexy, but the plot and character development blew me away. Throughout the story I saw Dante and Cleo change and develop, and I was hooked. I love how this isn’t a story of insta-love, but more the characters developing and growing. I love how the twists were full of feels and different than what I normally read.

Days after finishing this story I am still thinking about Dante and Cleo. If you are looking for a fun, sexy read this is for you. The banter had me laughing out loud. The dirty talk and sexiness is off the charts. Most importantly the plot is full of feels and heart wrenching moments. Highly recommend.

5 "Dante Was A First Class Jerk, And I Loved It"........d;D

If you're surfing the reviews no doubt you're seeing a trend, and I absolutely can confirm: Dante is an a$$hole (bona fide grade A, USDA Prime). Having said that, I must confess that I loved every single minute of it.......wait, what? Why you ask? Because no one writes an a$$hole like Natasha Anders, and equally, no one makes them beg for forgiveness like NA ( hehe makes it worth all the time you spent wishing you could smack them) Simarily, NA always casts a strong willed heroine who gives said jerk a good run for his money. Enter Cleo, she worked for Dante as his assistant. It may have take her a little time to gather steam, but when she did, she stood up for herself and didn't let Dante push her around. Needless to say, there were some fireworks, and I loved every minute of that too. ( lol... I mean really, isn't that half the fun). All kidding aside, this was a fast paced, heartfelt, angsty read with good characters and a hero willing to humble himself for the woman he loved.........d:)
